Series link transfer from V6 to Virgin 360

Tuning in

I am about to migrate to a 360 box. I understand that existing recordings and settings will be wiped. Losing the recordings is not a problem, because we do not keep them long. But losing the series links will be a major problem: we have been with Virgin for years and have over 400 series links. These are invaluable for picking up new series of programmes we have watched in the past without needing to know that the new series is about to screen.

I accept that I might need to re-enter these series links once the migration is complete. This in itself is a major task. But it will be even worse if I have to write down the details of all the series links before they are erased. Is there a way of downloading the existing series link data from my V6 box so that I have a record of what is there before the migration takes place?

Many thanks.

You might also want to be aware of one of the differences between TV360 & V6 where series links are concerned.

TV360 only allows a series link to be created when an episode of that programme is due to be broadcast in the next 14days and is therefore listed in the EPG.. so keep a record of your series links in a format that you can keep handy for months to come.

Instead of writing them down you could take pictures as there is no way to transfer or download the series links.

Yes, I thought of this. But even so, there are a large number of screens containing all the detail. But I agree it will save writer's cramp.

Thank you. This is not looking so much a step forward as a step back!

Yes, the V6 software is based on the TiVo software, which is the oldest and most established PVR software out there, meaning it has a large number of powerful and unique features that have been developed over the years (many of which are patented), the 360 is "different"...

On our wavelength

so lets say I set a series link for Season 9 of Walking Dead...when that season ends, it won't automatically start up again for Season 10?

(appreciate Walking Dead has more seasons than this but it's the only one i could think of lol)

@Steve1977

I've responded to your post in your own thread, it may be easier to keep all your questions in one place than ask in older threads but...

TV360 series links are sticky from series-to-series just like TiVo/V6. But I've mentioned some other shortcomings with them in your own thread.

Hi Steve1977,

Depends on what option you use, if you use Advanced options when setting a series link you would get using your example All from series 9 and onwards, All from seies 9 only, From this episode onwards, New episodes only and All available episodes.

So it depends on if you want to record any future series.
