Recordings freeze momentarily every few minutes

Brand new user, installation 2 days ago.  I'm just watching the first of my weekend recordings.  2 programmes from different channels this morning both freeze for half a second or so, every couple of minutes.... Can anyone help, or do I have faulty kit?

Brand new box, and I'm watching on the mini-box.

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,

Pause a live program on the main box for a couple of minutes and then play it back. If that keeps freezing it shows you have a faulty hard drive.

You could try a factory reset to try and fix it.

To factory reset go to Settings (the cog at the end of the Home menu) > System > Factory Reset. It's actually misnamed and only a partial system reset and not a complete factory reset. You are given 2 options

Keep Recordings
Format Disk

Choose Keep Recordings, that means you won't lose your recordings and any planned recordings or series links you've set up. You will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITV Hub again. Also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption will go back to their default settings if you have changed them.

If that option fails then try the Format Disk option, this will delete everything but you've nothing to lose as if that doesn't work you will need a new box anyway.

Thanks Dave - much appreciated.

Strangely, I tried the same recordings yesterday (following a power-cut) and they seemed to run fine; perhaps the old adage  1turn it off and turn it back on again' applies.  I'll keep an eye open to see if it happens again, and will try your other suggestions, but fingers crossed 🙂
