Hi Debz

just wondering if you ever got this sorted as I’ve just bought a new tv and getting the same no signal message.

Thanks

What's the error message you're getting?

A VM box reporting no signal will usually have an error number associated with it.

If it's your TV reporting no signal, it's usually the wrong HDMI input selected.

hi

the box is fine as I’ve plugged it back into the old tv and it works.

I have 5 HDMI ports on the new tv and have checked them all and switched over to the correct input channel for them.

I’ve plugged my ps4 HDMI into the new tv and that works fine and I’ve used the same HDMI cable for ps4 and virgin box so there’s no issues with the cable.

I did a search online and it mentioned you may need to change the put it of the tv box.  Not sure how to do that though.
thanks

Hi @Thisisandy

Double check that the on/off rocker switch is set to On.

Have you tried removing and then reinserting the HDMI cable into the back of your VM set top box and then rebooting it?

Are you hearing any sound when you have the blank screen?

The following works for  a V6 box, so I believe it will also work on  a Tivo box.

It should force the screen to reset and hopefully it will display in the basic  576p resolution.

Hopefully this will allow you to go into the set top settings and change the video output again.

Using your remote control press Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, 4, 8, 0, Clear

Fingers crossed you should now be able to see the screen again, if so then using your remote

  1. Press Home  > Help & Settings >  Settings > Video Output > Video Output Format

Either go to Auto detect to run a test of your TV’s display options. It will then ask you to confirm the new display selection  or choose  Test Formats to run a quick test on the Virgin box and follow the onscreen guides

Hi

Thanks for this I’ll try it later today.

I’ve tried unplugging cables and reinserting but didn’t seem to be working.

I reset the box and could see the greeting screen at first with ‘hello, bonjour’ etc but after a minute or so it just says no signal and to check connections.

I’ll try what you’ve suggested and let you know.

thanks

A video output self-test is part of the boot sequence, and you're describing that fail after the first screen. Try the quirky method, but if not you may have to file this under "TV box won't bootup" which will mean a call to faults and a tech visit.

Do you have VM home broadband? Only asking because TiVo's are no longer replaced but are swapped for V6. Same software, much newer box - but needs VM-BB to work.

Yes I’ve got Virgin broadband.
hopefully the method you’ve suggested works ok.

as I mentioned, I’ve currently got the box plugged into the old tv and everything is working fine.

fingers crossed it works.

thanks

Hi

just looked at my remote control and I don’t actually have a thumbs up, thumbs down button.
I think I remember that from a previous controller I had but not on this one.

any idea which other buttons it would be to replace those?

thanks

Which TV box do you have? You've posted in the TiVo section of the forum...
