I'm unsure what model of Tivo box I have but it states model: 1008C-STB-VM

When using the pause function, it only pauses for a very short while and then a message appears stating dismiss or switch to live and then stops pausing. And thereafter you can't pause again.

What am I doing wrong?

You don't have a TiVO platform box.

You have a V360 Mini box running on the Horizon platform.

This box does not have a Hard Drive, so cannot pause the programme internally for more than 10 minutes. If you need to pause for more than 10 minutes then you need to press record, & it will record on the Hard Drive of your main V360 box (The one thats twice the size of the Mini). You can then stream it to your Mini box when you want to continue watching.

To add to this, there's photos of the 360-master (with a hard drive) and 360-mini (without a hard drive) below...

The mini-box is half the height of the master box due to the lack of internal hard drive.
