I am a loyal long term customer of Virgin Media and companies before them. Since the landline has been upgraded, at my next renewal I will be getting rid of it, we were all heavily dependant on line rental in the past. Also, I am looking at switching to TOOB for my internet provider, for £25 a month 900 upload and 900 download speeds it will be more than adequate for my needs. My question is can I just take a TV package? My main need is the ability to have all the sports channels, don`t need films and children`s channels. In the past I have been fobbed off with if you cancel this your subscription will go up, which I don`t accept anymore with the choices available to me. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Firstly, dropping the line rental will lose lots of bundle discounts on your other services, so your package price may actually increase.
Secondly, Virgins TV systems only work on their internal network. As the TV boxes no longer have an internal modem & a substantial amount of the service now relies on IP based delivery, your Virgin hub has become an integral part of the "loop" that operates the TV service. So if you cancel Broadband your TV service will also be cancelled as well, as it won't operate from any external internet connection.
I'm a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share knowledge, I don't work for Virgin Media. Learn more

This seems to be the constant answer when you start to drop channels, items etc.... How can it go up if you are downsizing. Another reason to get away from Virgin. They have moved the landline so no need to pay for upkeep maintenance of that anymore. Now going through the hub which you pay for Broadband which must include maintenance within that cost? Customers are getting smarter to the tactics these companies are using to keep customers. A lot of discounts are giving to lure in new customers, fresh blood that they can, once the enticed deal has expired, into higher prices going forward. Also the mobile deals that they used to give as part of deals, have now gone to O2, with its mid term price increase, in my case from £25 to £29.32p a month, which I will change next may. So £25 a month with TOOB 900 upload and 900 download speeds which is enough for me. Mobile I should be able to get that down to £15 a month, whether it`s with O2 or not I don`t know. It`s now to source a TV package, so Firestick or other means. Have been a customer since Telewest and now Virgin for 30 plus years, but now time to move on.

Hi PB649 👋 Welcome back to the community!
Thank you for posting.
Sadly as the community have advised it would not be possible to swap down to a TV only package as our TV services are reliant on a broadband connection to work. (This is predominantly due to streaming apps and services that are reliant on broadband to work, and our ability to troubleshoot TV issues without offering broadband connection support.)
You would also loose access to some of our better discounts for dual services.
If it was a case you were looking to drop down to broadband and TV services we would be able to build you some packages to consider.
It's worth mentioning we don't generally offer support with package changes via community as these are best done in real time due to the contract documents needing approval. You can get in touch with us via 📞0345 454 1111 or 150 from a VM landline & WhatsApp 📲+447305 327 112 for further support on package options if needed!
Hope this helps, please let us know if you have any further questions or do need support and we will do our best to help!
We do value your long-held custom with us! I hope we are able to build a package that suits your needs and you do not feel the need to leave for an alternative provider.
Wishing you all the best. 🌞
