Usually network upgrades are accompanied by a mailing through the door or an email a week to two weeks in advance. We had two interruptions last year, & were notified each time a week in advance.
Did any neighbours with VM get notified?

Nope, we haven’t been told anything, neither have the neighbours

Recorded programmes are usually still accessible during outage periods such this.
As long as your TV box remains powered-up, it's only "live" content that is problematic should there be a service issue.

Good Evening @George59, thanks for your post and I'm sorry to hear we weren't able to advise of the planned outage.
I've been able to look into your local area and can see that no outage is currently showing.
Can you please advise us how the services are currently performing for you?
Kindest regards,
David_Bn
