New box or upgrade current V6 to 360?

Hi guys, 

Having being screwed over by Virgin for years, I'm finally at breaking point and will happily move over to Sly whilst keeping my VM internet! I'm just sick of the boring/dated looking menu's, lack of 4K football and lack of modern hardware.

I just had a few questions before I decide what to do:

- Will updating the firmware to 360 on my current V6 boxes slow them down? or am I better off demanding  brand new boxes

- I was previously told that my household cannot have more than 3 x V6 boxes - Is this still the case?

- Are there any negatives with TV 360? I read that there are features missing, but I'm not sure what they are.

There's plenty of previous threads on "360 vs V6" on this forum if you do a search, but one notable one worth a read is here 

The lack of 4K football has nothing to do with V6 vs TV360 - that's dictated by the channel choice and TV360 is identical to V6 there. Both the V6 & TV360 support 4K/UHD - you also mention "lack of modern hardware" - TV360 & V6 hardware is the same, it's the software that makes the difference. The headline view is that VM have BT Sport in 4K/UHD, Sky have Sky Sports in 4K/UHD.

Yes, there is a limit of 3 V6 or TV360 per home - bear in mind that any multiroom installs under TV360 are miniboxes that don't have hard drives.

Depending how much you record programmes, you are more likely to notice some of the features that TV360 doesn't currently replicate. It's the recording functionality on V6 vs TV360 that I suspect holds many users back from converting/

Hi @Geefiasco 

If you currently have V6 boxes then they can be converted to 360 and you keep the recording ability fo having 3 hard drives.

If you have a mixture of V6 and TIVO boxes then be aware that the older TIVO boxes cannot be converted to the 360 format and would be swapped out for 360 mini boxes which don't have the hard drive. However, you could do a box swap from TIVO to V6, and then a further swap out  afterwards from V6 to 360, thus keeping the hard drive  for recordings.

The short list (I may have forgotten some):

No Series Link+

Series Links cannot be setup for programs that are not in the TV Guide (so showing in the next week or two)

No Series Link Manager

Less control over Series Links (i.e. single-channel or multi-channel)

No Wishlists (where you can set the box to automatically record shows featuring certain actors or on certain topics etc.)

No skip-back when fast forwarding

No quick play

Radio stations are no longer channels and therefore cannot be recorded 

No Undelete option

Generally more clicks to get to recordings

No separation of shows recorded on different boxes

No Suggestions

No continuous buffering of all 6 tuners
