Hi,
I would like to get my mum setup with Virgin TV 360.
I understand the TV 360 needs to be plugged into the VM Hub, however her TV is in a different room (back of house).
Is it possible to:
a) move the router to the back of the house or
b) run a longer co-ax cable under floors to the TV?
How would i get either arranged?
Thanks
M

Hi M,
If you already have a Virgin hub the 360 only needs a connection to the hub either by ethernet cable or WiFi but it will need a coax cable connection to the 360 box for live TV.
You will need to ask for a manned installation and a cable should be able to run round the side of the house (unless you are a mid terraced), to where you want, ground or first floor.
Virgin won't go underfloor but you could install pull cables, if you do this you could also run an ethernet cable at the same time.
You will need to give Virgin a call and ask for a manned installation, 150 from your Virgin phone, mobile or landline, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.

Hi Roy,
Thanks for the fast reply.
So, just making sure I have this right, we need to:
Add the TV splitter cable to the Virgin Hub
Then run the coax from that around the house
(Obviously with an extra long extension on it)
Which means the engineer would need to make another hole outside to run the cable around the house into the far wall where she has the TV.
And once that’s in place she’ll be able to watch regular live TV.
Do you know if there are any limits on how long the coax cable can be?
Thanks

Hi M,
The engineer will be able to split the feed extremally where it comes into the house at the omnibox and then run a cable to the rear of the house, so the connection to the hub will probably remain the same unless you want that moving to the rear of the house.
You will need a hole drilling into the outside wall and a white Virgin connection box installing inside near to where you want the 360 box to be so your mum can watch live TV, if you have the hub moved you can connect the 360 to hub with an ethernet cable or if you leave it where it is you can use wifi.
I don't know what the maximum length of cable that can be used is but my second box has the cable going across the front of the house up and over the garage and then into the rear of my house so it shouldn't be a problem, the engineer will probably need to adjust the signal levels in the street cabinet.

Hi Roy,
Just to give you some feedback - the Virgin engineer was able to split it at the brown box outside and run the coax cable around the side of the house to the back, and Mum can now get 'regular' TV through that now. She still has the rest on Wi-Fi since it's running at 50Mbps which is plenty.
Thanks for your help.
