Mouth movements and sound misaligned

Hi I have issues with the sound isn’t aligned to the mouth movements on one of my boxes. I have recently upgraded to TV 360 and is has improved slightly but still I have the problem, I use the HDMI for sound transfer, I have replaced the cable, does anybody else have this issue, I am convinced there is a problem with the TV 6 box?

Re: Mouth movements and sound misaligned

Hi Ross26262,

Have you checked Audio & Video in Settings?

In there you can set Dolby Audio to Disabled, Follow Content and Always Convert.

Below that is also the option to adjust the audio timing.

Re: Mouth movements and sound misaligned

I had the same problem after upgrading to TV 360.

Phoned virgin and was advised to change Dolby audio to disabled and it work. Sound is now in sync.

Re: Mouth movements and sound misaligned

Hi @Ross26262,

Welcome back to our community forums.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your TV sound not being in sync. Have you tried the great advice given by @newapollo and @TB9. Are the issues still going?

I have been able to look into your account to further investigate this. I can see that this issue has been ongoing for a while. We want to do our best to help.

I am currently unable to access that TV box to retrieve data. Please try rebooting the device  as seen here so we can best determine where the issue may be https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-tv-restart-or-reset-your-box#tab2 . Also just to clarify, is this happening across all channels or selected channels?

Please get back to us when you can.

Thanks,

Akua_A

Re: Mouth movements and sound misaligned

Connect to your soundbar direct from TV 360 box using digital optical lead

Connect hdmi from 360 box to TV hdmi non arc socket

Set Dolby audio options to follow content

Works for me and many others

Re: Mouth movements and sound misaligned

There was a discussion on this in another topic - the conclusion that a few of us came to is that it's the 360 box's upscaling that's causing poor sound sync for 5.1 channels.

The V6 box displayed the same behaviour, but had the option to simply pass through the picture at whatever resolution it came in on (typically 1080i) which resolved the sound sync issues.

The 360 box doesn't have that option, even the Automatic option automatically upscales to whatever resolution your TV supports, and this leads to sound sync issues. The only reliable way around it is to disable Dolby audio which forces everything into stereo - not ideal.

Virgin need to update the software on the 360 box to provide the same functionality as the old V6 boxes, then the issue will be resolved.
