Mini box

I have just received a mini box as part of the Volt 1gig upgrade, the sales person said it only needs power and hdmi as it works via WiFi. Setup for WiFi, I can watch recorded media and apps but not live tv programs, it comes up with error cs2004.  Does it actually need a hardwired extension. Tia. I was actually supposed to have had a return call from customer care team yesterday but that hasn’t happened.  Beginning to question myself on whether I should have gone ahead with this upgrade.

Just to add to japitts answer the mini box does need a Virgin coax connection to receive live TV, sounds like you might (hopefully)  have spoken to a off shore salesperson. You need to give Virgin another call to arrange a manned install which should be covered by your upgrade.

It sounds like you've also opted to convert your TV box software at the same time as taking a new package.

All VM's recording boxes need two connections. 1: The co-ax cable carries live TV channels, 2: The internet connection provides OnDemand, streaming & numerous update facilities.

Without the co-ax cable providing a broadcast TV signal, you'll get the symptoms you have described. You've done well for the box to even complete the boot sequence, but the fix for this is to get a co-ax connection installed where you want to use the box. This would have been the same had you declined the conversion offer and took the new package on your existing V6 boxes.

Thanks. As I was expecting.

Hi 1958steveflying,

Thanks for your post and apologies to hear you were unaware that the box would still need to have a coaxial connection in order to work.

Hopefully you have already spoken to the team and arranged an engineer visit to get this installed for you. If not then we can arrange this for you.

Pop back and let us know.

Many thanks,
