Itv has now made these channels free to air.
Sky and freesat now have them available to everyone for free
BT also has them free on their new tv over IP
Will virgin be making the HD channels available as standard soon across all packages and following the rest?

Correction. ITV have changed their agreement with Sky to make them free to air. Most channels on subscription packages get a cut of the income from customer subscriptions. This change is likely in preparation for the launch of the ITVX app, which will have a subscription tier in addition to free content. If ITV change their agreement with Virgin, then these channels will be released to all customers & the SD versions will be removed.
