Hi wonder if someone can please advise.. Currently have Virgin Broadband fitted with router on the lower ground floor - new build house and wasnt my choice ! I would like to have the Virgin TV installed but not sure how this can connect, the TV is on another floor and no way cables can be run, however, where the router is i do have r45 cables that have been run throughout the house and have connections i can use.

Would i be able to connect the Virgin TV box utilsing this - im thinking of one of those RJ45 to HDMI adapters ? Dose the Virgin box need to be connected to a coax cable ?

Cant be that unusal now where by your router and TV are in different areas.

VM TV 360 works on linear broadcast technology the same as terrestrial & satellite TV, so a coax connection is mandatory. The connection to the hub can be Ethernet (RJ45) or WiFi for the EPG, apps & updates.

The Ethernet/WiFi connection will only output recorded material to another VM TV box on the same account, not to a TV set. You must use the HDMI output to connect to a TV.

arh so not good news then - because there is no way i can run a coax connection from from router to where the 360 needs to go....  i can connect via rj45 using the existing cabling already in place.i can obviously connect the TV box to my tv via HDMI

Hi just to add to nodrogd excellent advice, this is not something you can do yourself it must be done by a virgin engineer as according to the length of specialist cable, you can't buy this the signal levels between your box and the street cabinet have to be set. Regards Micky

thank you - yes thats fine as you can tell im not an expert !

i have an engineer booked for next week to asses but thought would ask on here to see if anyone has had similair problem - connecting  just via HDMI / Ethernet will be fine just the coax will be an issue

They maybe able to run the cable externally to where you want it, whoever comes to do the survey should be able to tell you.
