When i joined virgin media, i was issued with one of the old boxes, now it doesnt have any of the new features that the v6 or 360 have, ie the option to stream disney+. So i have to resort to screen mirroring from my phone which isnt always a good connection.

I recently within the past few months renewed my contract, but i still have the old box?

Hi @Jammy20gem

It sounds like you have the older Tivo boxes. They have their own inbuilt broadband. If you don't take broadband with VM then you can't have either the V6 or 360 boxes as they both need to be connected to a VM broadband subscription.

You should have specifically asked to swap to the 360 format when you negotiated your new contract as it's a separate negotiation, although having said that, there have been forum post that show some customers have had their boxes changed automatically as part of the new deal without them requesting it (which didn't please a lot of them)

There is an online page https://www.virginmedia.com/tv/virgin-tv-360 to request the switch, however I think it will just make you sign into My Virgin Media so you can do it online. Because yuo've just agreed a new deal that option won't show, so you would have to call in and speak to regrades again. Unfortunately forum staff don't have access to the systems to do this for you.

I totally understand the Disney + reason for wanting to switch to the 360, however the 360 dosn't have all the bells and whistles that the older tivo and V6 boxes had due tivo licensing agreements, and if you do switch to the 360 platform then you can't go back to your current set up. Plus the current box gets formatted as part of the update process so yuo lose all of yuor recordings and series links.

The following thread /360-Features-v-TIVO-Features/  details some of the differences between the boxes.
