Maybe it's just a mistake it wasn't included in the Channels list because if you scroll down the Discover list iPlayer is just below Top picks, and if you go to Categories there are also BBC programs listed which will link to iPlayer.
As long as you know you can find iPlayer in Apps which is the first place I would probably look for any catch up on BBC then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
