Box can't find device to pair remote (TV/home cinema)

I've just updated my V6 boxes to 360 and the remote pairs with the box just fine. When I try to pair the remote to the TV or home cinema system, I go to settings > pair remote with devices but the box can't find anything. The screen just gets stuck on "scanning for device"

Software version 4.41

Both TV and home cinema are Panasonic

  • Very annoying when my V6 remotes controlled the TV and cinema system just fine 🤬🤬

Following this post as I have exactly the same problem. We have a 8 month old Samsung TV and 5 month old Samsung Soundbar. This afternoon I updated our V6 to TV360, which took me only a matter of minutes. I then tried to pair the TV360 to the Soundbar without success and the scanning for device just kept scanning. What am I missing?

Hi Mrwozat,

If you are still having problems I would try a factory reset of the box and select the option to keep your recordings if you have made any, and try again and input your TV manufacturer and model number, I haven't done it for sometime but don't remember the  "scanning for device"  message maybe this is new with 4.41.

What model number's are the TV and home cinema system.

Already factory reset the box twice.

Reset the remote

Tried different HDMI cables.

Tried changing the routing

IE box > TV > cinema system

And box > cinema system > TV

Both via ARC ports.

Still the same.

TV is TX-P42ST31B

Cinema system is SA-BTT370

Hi @Mrwozat

Please try the following.

Open Settings > Audio & Video > Pair remote with devices >  TV setup > scroll to P then select Panasonic > click on Enter device number and type in ST31 then click on Go using the onscreen keyboard   Hopefully this will set up the TV for you.

Do the same with Audio set up, but enter the device number as BTT3 and press Go  - if that code doesn't work then try T370

I've also had a quick look at your TV manual https://mans.io/files/viewer/46160/86#navigate_bar

I'm not sure, but think your TV is only using HDMI1.4  - If that's correct then the best resolution you can get is 1080p

The HDMI2 port should be used for connecting an amplifier that has an ARC connection.

Hi Dave.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate you taking the time to try and help. Unfortunately it is a waste of time as you didn't seem to read my posts properly.

I already said in my first post that I have gone through that setting already but no options came up to select anything, all I get is "scanning for devices"

I don't have any issues with resolution?

The HDMI2 port should be used for connecting an amplifier that has an ARC connection.

As mentioned in my second post I already specified that the port with "ARC functionality" had been used.

🤷🏻

@Mrwozat I did already post this, but my comments have disappeared into the ether!

I went into the settings early the next evening to see if the pairing situation was still the same. Lo and behold icons for both TV and amplifier/ soundbar had appeared. I was then able to click on both to pair them without any issues. A new setting appeared below the pairing one - Volume Keys Control. You need to click on this to choose if you want the volume keys on the remote to operate your TV or your amp/ soundbar. I chose the soundbar.

It would appear that there is a time delay between initial installation of the TV360 software and being able to use some settings. It would be useful if VM could have text appear to that effect and save us wasting our time. I also noticed when changing recorded programmes to record only new programmes thereafter that there was barely visible text in the top right hand corner saying things were being synchronised. The process for this wasn't instant. If I hadn't seen this and backed out of the recording too soon then the change might not have taken effect. My experience so far with TV360 is that it's not exactly user friendly or particularly intuitive, but like all change I'll get used to it soon enough.

Thanks for coming back to us @Mrwozat. I'm sorry to hear of the issues that you're having trying to connect your Virgin Media remote on your TV.

Have you been able to get any further since you last posted on Tuesday?

Have you spoken to our team about these issues at all?

Regards,
