Audio sync problems since 360 "upgrade"

Hello,

I've read a few posts on here and posted on Virgin Media Facebook (to be told to ask in here).

I am having what appears to be a common issue. I updated my V6 box to the 360 software and now my soundbar is totally useless. It quickly drifts out of sync, then goes 'metal mickey' before the sound goes off altogether. It then comes back on after 10-30 seconds or so, but remains out of sync.

All connections are as they were prior to the upgrade.

Virgin box to Sony TV via HDMI.

Sony TV to Sony soundbar via HDMI ARC.

There is no additional HDMI available on the soundbar.

There is an optical connection and I have now plugged a Toslink in between TV and soundbar to see if that helps. It makes no difference!

Any suggestions welcome!!

Seems like it must be a software issue given everything worked before the upgrade - which is pretty grim!

Hello astrachan13,

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the soundbar.

Can you please confirm if you experience any sound issues without the soundbar?

If you are unsure, can you please test this and let us know?

Thanks,

Common problem with no solution. A few long threads about it on the forum. You could try changing the sound options (2.0PCM/Follow Comtent)  I suspect you be stuck with 2.0 unless your soundbar has an HDMI in.

You could try the optical out on the 360 box to the soundbar.

The sound works fine if I turn off the soundbar and use only the TV's speakers.

No issues at all in that regard.

But the speakers in the soundbar and sub-woofer are obviously of a higher quality than the inbuilt speakers, so disappointing that I can no longer use them.

I've tried the PCM 2.0 and 5.1 settings.

Still have the same problem with it being out of sync.

I'm not sure what your mean about the HDMI in.

The connection between TV and soundbar is currently HDMI. (ARC) And also an optical lead.... because I thought it was worth a try!

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion.

I couldn't live with that as a solution unfortunately, as the V6 box is in a cabinet and the TV up on the wall, with the HDMI connections chased and hidden. I wouldn't want the optical lead trailing down / across the wall. (Certainly wouldn't be popular with Mrs Strachan!)
