360 volume remote issue

Hi, I've upgraded my V6 box to 360 and the remote has successfully set itself to TV (Samsung) and Audio Amplifier (Sony) only we only put our Amp on when we want to watch something in surround sound. Most of our viewing is done with sound through the TV. So it would be more beneficial for the the remote to control the sound on the Samsung TV.

Is there a way to change the audio choice for the remote?

Re: 360 volume remote issue

Just make changes in the AUDIO & VIDEO settings.

The Volume keys control setting should allow you to flip between your amplifier and your TV.

In my case, I can flip between my Bose and TV.

Re: 360 volume remote issue

No unfortunately not. The 360 remote correctly controls the Samsung series 8 TV. But it doesn't control the Amp volume at all. (model Sony STRDN1080.CEK 7.2 CH 4K UHD AV...)

When I go through the remote settings manually, it eventually finds a setting that controls my amp volume, however, I then get a message saying that the remote may not work with older models. And once saved, indeed the remote does not control the Amp.

This is odd since the Amp is relatively new (it has Dolby Atmos) I brought it around 2020.

But since the remote isn't working with the amp volume, the (above) instruction to alter which device the remote uses for volume, doesn't work. I guess that the remote needs to correctly work for the amp, in order for the volume button to work and allow me to change my choice for device output?

Re: 360 volume remote issue

Hi thenuns,

The way I read your original post I thought you could control the amp but never mind.

Are the TV and amp connected using HDMI-ARC, with the 360 connected to the TV also, or is the 360 connected directly to the amp. I am guessing it's the first case if you want to watch without using the amp, seems like a similar problem in this Thread using the same amp. I don't know how or if the OP resolved the problem as he hasn't said.
