360 remote

Hi got the new 360 box today and the remote has no up or down thumb buttons. Not a problem, I thought, until we had to change to screen settings (had sound but no picture) and it tells us to press the up thumb button to select the new settings. 

So, the remote has changed but the interface still needs the old remote. What's that about?

If your new box is requesting a TiVo button press then it’s a V6 and not a TV 360.

Thanks. Specifically asked the engineer today if it was a 360 box and he said yes. That's really disappointing

The V6 and 360 boxes look identical (the 360 a little slimmer) so unless the engineer actually saw the box turn on, then it could be an easy mistake to make although, he should have known which box he was at least installing in your house?!!

Thanks. 

The engineer has just been on the phone after I contacted him about this. He doesn't seem to think it's wrong. 

What differences do the V6 and 360 have exactly?

V6 box runs Tivo software and the 360 box runs Horizon software. Hardware wise both boxes are similar, as you have found out the 360 box doesn't support suggestions and thumbs up and down. Also the series link options don't have new only. The 360 has voice control and the V6 doesn't, to use that you will need a 360 remote if you get a 360 box or software upgrade to a V6 box which will make it a 360 box.

Do you happen to know why the 360 box would ask us to press thumbs then? As I say the engineer thinks he has given us the 360 but it seems to have some parts of the V6 interface.

The 360 does not have the ‘thumbs’ so looks like you may have normal TiVo software and not 360

...as previously stated - if you are seeing the 'Thumbs Up/Down' options then 100% your box is a V6 and not a 360.

Hi

If your box is either a upgraded V6 or a Humax 360 box and is running the Horizon software and you have the 360 remote, 360 remote has straight sides and no thumbs buttons, the V6 remote is curvy and nicer to hold and also has the thumbs buttons, from what you say you have the 360 remote, if you are running the 360 software then if you press the Home button, go to Settings which on 360 is a picture of a cog wheel extreme right, then select info also extreme right it will say What's new in 4.29, underneath that there is About, if you press that it will list Build Version at the top and that will say 4.29 which is the current version of the Horizon 360 software.

Of course if you haven't been given a box with 360 software then that won't work, can't remember exactly how to get to the same point with a V6 box on Tivo software, but if you can't do the above then it isn't 360. Also you can't have a 360 box with some V6 features like asking you to press the thumbs buttons.
