upgrade stopped because of credit check

Basically 3x times customer service has spoken with me at length about an upgrade and the credit check doesn't allow it to go ahead because of my address. I have lived at the same address for 30 years and been with Virgin for 25+years at the same address and they cannot help in fact they told me to resolve the problem myself as they wasn't prepared to talk to the credit company that was blocking the transaction.

By the way my credit is as good as it gets

This is not an unusual scenario belive it or not. Pops up time to time, good credit, long payment history but refused.

Frankly, don't waste your time. Go elsewhere.
