'unsupported sim' in 'new' handset

Broke phone 6S ( water damage). Have spare iPhone 7 ( long story). Inserted existing SIM into this phone, having first erased all data off spare iPhone 7. Keep getting 'sim unsupported' message and can't connect to Virgin service. Can someone please help?! I'm going in circles online here.

Re: 'unsupported sim' in 'new' handset

Hello

The iPhone 7 where was it bought from was it from Virginmedia or another telephone company or even direct from Apple ?

If it was bought from another telephone provider then more than likely it is locked to that provider and will need to be unlocked from them.

If it was bought from VM then you can request unlocking at https://www.virginmedia.com/help/unlock-code-request1

Regards Mike
