replacement SIM, not working

Hi, I have a replacement SIM (old phone was stolen) but Mobile network status is "disconnected", so can't make calls! is this because virgin has blocked my number after I reported phone stolen?

Although we cant advise directly from here. It will more than likely will be the reason.
