I have recently been unable to access the Reddit site through my Android phone when using mobile data - on wifi it works fine. I thought at first it might be a problem with the app I'm using but I also get problems when using the web browser (Chrome, also tried Firefox).
The error is "This site can't provide a secure connection - www.reddit.com sent an invalid response. ERRL_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR'.
It it only an issue accessing the Reddit site - all other sites I've tried are OK. I have tried clearing cached data in my browser and flushing DNS but this did not solve the problem.
The only thing that I have changed recently is to enable 2FA on my Reddit account. But, as I mentioned, since doing this the I can access Reddit fine on wifi.
Could it be that Virgin has blocked this site for me on mobile?
Edit: I forgot to mention that if I enable a VPN on my phone I can access Reddit via mobile.

Not sure why a mod made my previous comment a thread of its own but I'm having this exact same issue independent of the original poster. So trying a different sim etc seems pointless. I've also tried on multiple reddit apps and different browsers.

Also having the problem. Can't view. Reddit on the app or using chrome but fine when connected to WiFi. Started Monday out of the blue.
Think a few others are having the same problem as there is a poll on reddit about it.

Hi @Justtz
Welcome back to our Community Help Forum 🙂
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing the same issue regarding Reddit not working when using data.
Hi @925
If a site / app is working on WiFi but not on data this could be due to the parental settings on your mobile. To help us protect customers who are under 18, we restrict access to sites containing adult material via data - it's just a thought, but could Reddit have been placed on this list due to certain adult subreddits?
Follow the instructions from the link below to change your restrictions and see if you can get access:

Kind regards,
Serena

I just turned off the parental control on my account and this has fixed the problem - thanks.
But I have some questions -
Thanks

Ah brilliant, thanks for letting me know @nickinsoton
I'm glad to hear that turning off parental controls fixed the issue for you. To answer your questions:
1. Parental controls are there as a default setting, the customer needs to switch them off themselves
2. Reddit has subthreads that contain content of a pornographic adult nature, which will be why it was on the list
3. Sites are constantly being reviewed on their content but it's hard to keep track of them all, Reddit may have only just been added on to the parental control list recently.
Have a lovely day,
Serena

This issue usually involves a problem with your web browser or your site’s SSL certificate. The browser’s telling you that because it’s trying to tell you there’s a problem with the certificate the website is using for HTTPS, so “this site can't provide a secure connection”. In all cases the end-to-end encryption is still going to work just because HTTPS can’t function without it. There is no definite guide for managing this error.
Two possible options to get rid of this issue
Steps for Chrome :
