poor signal in certain locations

Dialled in

My wife has a Virgin mobile a couple of years old(samsung)

We can both be sitting in the same room and someone will call her but her phone doesn't ring. They then call me  but I'm on Vodaphone.

Today my wife was over at my daughters house looking after her dog.

I called round and she didn't answer the door so I called to find out where she was but no answer and straight to answerphone with no ring tone.

She was at home as I contacted her on whatsapp easily and we were just yards apart but in Kettering 4 miles from our house. So it doesn't seem to be a local issue or just in one place.

If anyone has any ideas feel free to comment. Do we have a fault and is it phone or sim??

I'm at NN155QQ if anyone wants to check masts?

Hi there @gilburton, welcome back to our forum and thanks for your post.

I'm sorry to see that your wife is having issues with the signal in certain areas. Is this happening in both indoor and outdoor locations? Also has your wife had a new sim card through recently to enable her to connect through the O2 network?

Let us know and we can assist further.

Regards

No she hasn't had a sim for years.

I thought you were on the vodaphone network? but if another sim would help then possibly that would be the  way to go at least to eliminate the possibility??

She has a dual sim phone would they work alongside??

As long as it's just a straight swap with no phone adjustments/changes as she hates tech changes and that includes new phones lol

Thanks for your reply, we have started migrating customers over to the O2 network since we have merged with them.

Just before we arrange a new sim, we need to rule out the possibility of it being a handset issue. If possible can you please try another sim in the handset to see if the issue still occurs. If it does and the sim is on another network this may indicate a handset issue.

If not, it would seemingly indicate either a sim or network issue which we can then work on ruling one out.

Nathan
