mobile phone handset payment

i am trying to pay an outstanding bill for my handset before it becomes a missed payment, as the payment was not taken out through a direct debit. i have tried calling 789 on my handset, but it wont connect. how can i pay these arrears as soon as possible? this has been an issue since the switch to O2.
