hi all
So I recently moved from Tesco to VM as the family plans and prices are just so good that it’s hard to ignore being an existing VMedia customer for around 20 years.
I have an iPhone 13 Pro and the setup seemed fine. Apn details automatically added with sim and after around 8 hours the iMessage detail’s swapped with my old number via the PAC switch.
so what’s the issue?
1. Randomly my contacts change format to what seems like Belgium text format. I think it did it after I had no signal in our local pub. Having ‘Googled’ it it seems that; Mobile data > Sim Appilcations > roaming> manual > National will hopefully fix this. Time will tell. (Also if I go abroad so I change this back to auto?)
2. when you join Vm you get a text with a link to the iosapn profile. Downloading this and installing it creates a iOS profile that installs certificates for virgin Wi-Fi (underground) and some apn cell certs. These are trusted.
Are they needed? What do they do? Do they help with the above error?
currently I have uninstalled them. Advice please?
3. Wi-Fi calling. I asked for this to be enabled as Tesco also O2 didn’t have this option. I have 1-2 bars at home so thought this would help. However I am now unsure if I need it or if this also can be turned off and only turn on if needed?
I only have 30 day contracts on 4 numbers and I really want this package to work well.
just need to know if others have had the same queries and solutions?
cheers all …

Hi @TheRookieGB,
Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.
It's great to hear that you've decided to join us as a Virgin Mobile customer. I'm happy to address and answer your three questions for you.
1. I'm very sorry to hear you faced an issue with the area code/prefix of your stored contacts changing to Belgium ones. It's great to hear you've now been able to fix that, but if the issue should return then let us know and we'll be happy to investigate further.
2. If you have any settings or certificates installed that are attributed to us then you can certainly trust them and would help for you to have full functionality of our network and services with your SIM card and handset.
3. You'll be able to manually turn Wi-Fi Calling off/on via your handset in the Settings menu, but it also needs to be active on our side of the network. If you did ever want us to enable/disable it then feel free to reach out and we can go from there to make the change.
Let us know if there's anything else that we can help you out with.
Thanks,
