Wifi calling

I am stuck in a remote area without phone service and WiFi calling was recommended as I hadn't used it before. It looked like I could switch it on through the My app, but on finally finding the page, it said to call Virgin Mobile to activate it. Seriously!? The reason I need it is that there is no phone signal... Surely there is another way of setting it up?
