Any news on an update? I have the same problem on my s8+. I've tried all the different settings and fixes still no change.
If I wasn't in a contract I would be changing to another provider!!!!
I have no issues on WiFi so this must be connected to the fact we've got unlimited data on 4g and maybe the virgin background needs to updated to the lastest security update WhatsApp have been doing the last few weeks.
I have no problems on wifi, just when using data. Today I put another sim in from 3 and guess what! No issues at all. So it's not the phone or android. It must be the virgin sim.
I have phoned the help line several times but nobody seems to know anything.
Come on virgin please sort this out!
It's something to do with virgin background deal with us getting unlimited data using the app but don't think anyone knows what.
It's not just WhatsApp. I was using a live score app and that's just the same. I have to open it to get notifications when on data. Again it works fine on wifi and on my sons sim from 3.
I know my Gmail has the issue from time to time.
Think it's worse if you have a phone directly from virgin instead having a unlocked phone like I've got.
Virgin you have a cheek putting the prices up when this is still a big issue for your customers.
Today I've been on 4G only and the time delay getting a message because of this issue is so annoying
