Voicemail notification won't clear

A few days ago a friend phoned me and left a voicemail,  I listened to it and deleted the voicemail but the notification on the top left won't clear. I've cleared data and cache in call settings several times a day since last week but it comes back on a few minutes later.

Apologies for the issues faced, can I ask what handset do you have? 

Also when you access your voicemail, does it advise that the message has been deleted?

Samsung Galaxy s8

Just says "You have no new voicemail messages"  then "main menu" and runs through voicemail options

Thank you for letting us know. 

Can you please dial 222 from your handset - once on the main menu of the voicemail it will read out some options, can you please select the following: Option 3 "Settings and Features" and then Option 2 "Manage Message Alerts"?

When you're in this section, please turn off Message Alerts and turn them back on.
