I have been a Virgin mobile customer for more than 12 years and have never been asked for a pin number to access my voice mails. I am in France at the moment and was asked for a pin when accessing my messages. I had 3 attempts, although I don't remember ever setting a pin and am now locked out. I tried to call +44 345 454 1111 but gave up after waiting an age. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear you've not been able to access your voicemail whilst abroad. You did need to set up a voicemail pin and set up your phone to work whilst you are abroad. We can take a look at resetting the pin for you. Please join me on private message so I can locate your account and pass account security. You can see your private messages at the top of the page, in the envelope icon.
