Hope that you're well.
I recently got a 5g sim only contract and I'm using a Motorola Moto G 5G Plus but for some reason, I don't seem to have 5G when I'm in a 5G area.
Does anyone know how best to resolve this? Potentially it's either the device not being able to recognise the 5g bands that Virgin/Vodafone use or it's a Virgin/Vodafone network issue.
When you do a network search does 5G show as a network type?

So, under preferred network type I have:
4g,3g and 2g.
No 5G showing then. If you can't change it and select 5G from there can you do a manual network search and see if you can see Vodafone. If you can the SIM is running 4G.
5G should have Vodafone missing and EE visible.
Yep, so I'm on Vodafone as there is no 5g in the list. I do have Virgin Mobile in the list though and I'm connected to Virgin.
WWell this is what you should have. I assume the phone is the single sim version and not dual as 5G will not work in slot two.
Sounds like a call to the dreaded 789
So it is the dual SIM version and I did put it in slot 2 when I got it as I was waiting for the number to be transferred over.
I've tried my partner's SIM and I get the 5g options so do Virgin need to push an update to fix it?
For some time now firmware updates on Android are the generic manufacturer version and not Virgin's.
So I did speak to someone and it seems that Virgin are only supporting Samsung's and iPhones for 5g. Would have been useful to know that before taking out the contract.
Absolute rubbish from 789 as usual.
Virgin are selling far more than Samsung and iPhones on 5G.
Pity you have just signed up as I know of some good 5G deals out there.
