Unregistered Sim message on old phone

Hello. I have an old pay as you go phone which I use occasionally. Upon checking it recently I receive the unregistered sim message. There was about £10 credit on the account. Is there anyway to re register this card and number. If not, how do I transfer my old sim contacts onto a new one?

Have you used the phone to make a call or send a text in the last 90 days. If not, then it will have been disconnected for none use as per T&Cs You would lose your balance.

The other possibility is that if you have the old red card then you may have missed the SIM swap, in that case a new purple SIM can be sent out.

How you transfer contacts would depend on the phone. Most no longer store on the SIM

Yes I have a red sim card. Can this be swapped?

It seems not possible to unlock my old phone which i want to keep as a spare. As it was originally registered o Virgin with a red sim card, if I purchase a new virgin pay as you go sim, will it be possible to register it, as the phone is locked to Virgin? I'd really like to keep this old phone, but it seems it may not be possible.

Hello

I am afraid that you cannot purchase a new Pay As You Go SIM from Virginmedia as they no longer offer that service, only existing customer will remain on Pay As You Go.

If the phone cannot be unlock then VM can send a replacement phone that will work with the new purple SIMs.

Thanks for your update on the forums, I am sorry about your phone and SIM card. 

As you do not have a SIM card active on your account, we would be unable to unlock your phone. 

However, if you call our friendly mobile sales team on 0800 052 0238 they will be able to explore what SIM card and tariff they have to offer.

My backup phone had a balance on it now the phone comes up as Unregistered SIM.

HOW DO I GET MY BALANCE BACK.

I have a red card and I have read that a new purple one should have been sent. Is this true
