Unable to send texts

My phone has suddenly stopped sending texts.

Everything else is fine.

Ive tried inputting the smsc number maually but get

Message not sent. Phone number formatted incorrectly.

Cant get through to anyone at Virgin mobile as you go through the menus only to be told the offices are closed then cut off.

Cant use the text help facility as I CANT SEND TEXTS.!!!!

I have had the same problem for days now - still cannot get through to anyone to get help

Hi JustPete and Sjrobson001, 

Very sorry that you're both having issues sending texts, this ins't good. 

Can I ask some questions to help with this? 

Can you confirm what handset you have? 

Are you able to try the SIM in another phone? 

Are all other services working, can you receive texts? 

If you manually enter a mobile number and try to text it does this work? 

Have you checked your phone book to ensure all numbers are appearing correctly?
