Hi,
Please could somebody help.
Came to Barbados a few a days ago. Followed all advice re set up for calls and texts on my Samsung A52s. I do connect to the local networks because I have received Virgin texts immediately on arrival.. I installed the configuration files etc as instructed but I cannot make calls of send texts.
I have set roaming to on and international call barring is off as instructed by Virgin Mobile.
Please note I have received texts from parties other than Virgin media but I cannot send texts or make calls.
Please help.
Many thanks.
Graham.

Hello GWBIM, thanks for your post and a warm welcome to our community forum.
As you wish to make and receive calls and text messages from your UK VM number from Barbados, could you please advise if you are trying to reach a UK number in this case (landline or mobile) or other?
Also, have you attempted to reboot your handset and do a manual network search to view all available networks and see if any of them works for you?
Let us know, we can then advise based on this info.
Happy to best help.

Hi Adri,
Thanks for coming back to me.
I was trying to make a local call as a test, it was a call to the land line in the villa we are staying in. I put in the local number and was surprised to see a request by the phone to add the international code for Barbados when I was actually here in Barbados; I added the code that was automatically presented to me by the phone but it did not work.
The text message that I tried was to my wife who is with me here in Barbados.
She is also unable to text and call.
I have rebooted phone several times.
As I mentioned I am connected to a local network Flow and receive texts but cannot send a text.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Adri,
Re your question on the networks.
The 2 available are FLOW and Digicell-StaySafe I set it to Digicell, as it was on FLOW, and it still won't send a text to my wife phone.
Thanks again for any help you can give.

Hi Kath,
I have checked again all the settings re roaming etc as per the link you sent, and as mentioned before I have texted 789922 "ALL" and installed all the configuration files as requested but no joy.
What are the APN settings that I should have?
I have the following and my phone is set to:
Thanks.

Hi Graham,
Thanks for coming back to me on this one.
I'd like to double check things at this end to ensure the settings are correct but have been unable to locate you on our systems using your forum credentials. I will need to confirm some information with you in order for me to proceed with checks.
I have sent you a private message regarding this and will investigate further once I receive your reply. Just click on the little plum envelope at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox.

Hi Graham,
Thanks for coming back to me so quickly via private message.
I've have checked things this end and can confirm the settings are correct. In order for things to work though you'll need to ensure these settings are chosen in the SIM Toolkit. Please follow the steps below and let me know if this resolves things.
How to access the sim toolkit.
For Android:
Select Apps from the Home Screen
Select Virgin SIM Toolkit Icon
Select Roaming
Select Mode
Select Manual
Select International-you are done, go back to Home Screen
To Switch back when in the UK:
Select Apps from Home screen
Select Virgin SIM Toolkit Icon
Select Roaming
Select Mode
Select Automatic and go back to Home Screen
For iOS:
Select Settings from the Home Screen
Select Phone Icon
Select SIM Applications
On newer iOS 14 - Settings -> Mobile Data -> SIM Applications
Select Roaming
Select Mode
Select Manual
Select International and you are done, go back Home screen to retry
To change back when returning to the UK:
Select Settings from the Home Screen
Select Phone Icon
Select SIM Applications
On newer iOS 14 - Settings -> Mobile Data -> SIM Applications
Select Roaming
Select Mode
Select Automatic mode - you are done, go back to Home screen
It is important that you set the SIM roaming applet back to Automatic mode once in the UK or you will not be able to access service when you return.
Please pop back to me once you've done this and let me know if you're still having issues.
Thanks,

Hi Graham,
Thanks again for sticking with me on this one.
We're sorry that those steps didn't help. There isn't anything else I can advise I'm afraid.
All the settings are correct at this end so it must be relating to the settings on the device.
I'm really sorry that we ere unable to provide further help on this occasion.
Thanks,
