Texts apprear under worng number

Context I used a PAC code last week to port my number - all worked well, or so I thought

Phone Samsung Ultra 22 Android 12

This morning two people told me that I was texting from a different number, I texted my wife, who also ported last week and she said the number was correct.

I looked here on the forums and it said go to messages and click three dots at the top - I dont have them and can't get into any settings.

My number in the phone is 'unknown' and I can't change it in 'about phone'

Any ideas?

Sorry to hear of the issues with the phone number that is populating when sending text messages.

Strange set of circumstances on this one, can you confirm what networks the phone numbers are on that reported this issue to you?

Is it also possible to perhaps send a SMS message from your wife's phone to see if the incorrect phone number still populates? 

Have you rebooted the phone since the PAC has completed?

I rebooted again just in case

My wife now tells me she is also getting the wrong number notified when I text - she tries to ring that number and it says 'service not available on the network'

The three people who tell me this is a problem are using: Virgin, O2 and Vodaphone   - though I suspect that this is happening to every text I send/receive as some people are not responding

This is now  a problem as people are getting confused and are scared I am scamming them so is getting quite urgent
