Slow mobile data speeds when SIM moved to O2

I phoned up support about an unrelated issue and in the process was moved over to the O2 mobile network.

The SIM arrived today and I receive much slower speeds than on my old SIM on tests performed in the same location.

2-10 Mbps on O2
60-85 Mbps on previous SIM (EE or Vodafone)

Are slow speeds to be expected?

Hi barcode00,

Thank you for your post.

It's not something that should be expected, no - as you can appreciate we wouldn't ever expect that. Is this in all areas you have seen this or in just 1 location? Just to confirm also, do you have an O2 SIM card as part of a Volt deal or are you still on the Virgin SIM?

Cheers,

Ryan.

Thanks for the reply.

I believe I have a O2 SIM card as part of a Volt deal because it has O2 branding on it (old one had VM logo). I was also issued a new number, which I hope to swap over to my current one.

I have tried in a few locations so far, and this new SIM card seems to perform consistently worse. Although there is relative improvement in some areas, it doesn't reach the speeds my previous/current SIM did/does.

Ah okay - you would need to reach out to O2 customer support for this as there isn't anything we can do to diagnose this as we don't use their systems, apologies for this.

Cheers,

Ryan.
