I've noticed that the sim tool kit icon has disappeared from my home screen

It's showing when I look on the list of my apps but can't open it

I've got a samsung a21s

Re: Sim tool kit icon disappeared from hone screen

Hello

Yes but that still doesnt answer my question to the sim tool kit icon disappearing from my home screen on my phone , that post just says that some one else has had the same problem

Can you please see if you can find out if this should of happened or not and has it something to do with moving to o2 and will it reappear when im moved from virgin to o2

Hi @suechapman

Welcome back to the community forums.

Sorry to hear of your concerns over the sim tool kit app. Does switching the handset off and back on resolve this for you?

Please ensure your OS is fully up-to-date on your mobile device as well.

Re: Sim tool kit icon disappeared from hone screen

Hello

Yes my phone os is upto date as it does it automactically and i have also checked for updates but they are all upto date .
I have tried to restart my phone but the icon still doesnt reappear
I dont understand how it can be there one day and the next its gone
is this something to do with the swop over to o2 at all and it will come back when i have been moved over from the virgin bit of things to the o2 part ?

Re: Sim tool kit icon disappeared from hone screen

Yes my SIM tool kit has also disappeared from the APP screen on both our Virgin sim cards on two different phones.. The ToolKit appears to be installed and running in settings/apps. but cannot access it from here.

Virgin have replaced SIM card but this has not not resolved the issue.  Samsung have remotely accessed phone and cannot resolve.

Perhaps something at at Virgin as this affecting a number of SIM cards now

Re: Sim tool kit icon disappeared from hone screen

At least it is not just me as mine is the same as yours its there and installed in the app settings but just cant open it and app is not on the home screen anymore

Im wondering is it something to do with being swopped over to o2 and it will come back as o2 instead of virgin once the swop over has been done for each sim card

Re: Sim tool kit icon disappeared from hone screen

The SIM Toolkit was put there because of the way Virgin implemented roaming. As a Virtual Network they could not negotiate roaming agreements of their own. Those using iPhones and some other handsets needed it to get roaming abroad.

With the move to O2 and their background systems the toolkit will be redundant.

That's my guess.

Re: Sim tool kit icon disappeared from hone screen

Hello

Thank you for shedding some sort of light on the matter

As long as it doesnt affect the sunning of the sim card then thats ok as when i have gone abroad in the past my roaming has always been ok and worked so therefore never had to use it on any of the phones that i have had over the yeas
