Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can assist?

I recieved two new simcard updates for both my wifes phone and my phone.

Placed the sim card into my wifes phone and it worked straight away - success.

Placed the simcard into my phone and was greeted with a request to enter Network Unlock Pin?

On my letter recieved with the sim cards my wife has a network unlock code and mine did not.

Tried everything.

Contacted support and waited over an hour.

Told to use the code on my letter, explained nothing there.

Then informed my phone must be locked by the previous provider. You need to request the unlock code from them?

I have used this perticular phone from Virgin for over two years Nexus 6P, same length as my wifes iPhone 7.

Sent requests for my Network unlock code but no reply at all.

Only resort I had to take due to terrible customer support and service was to look for a sim deal and request my PAC codes from Virgin which was instant.

I will now be billed for the unless sim card for a month, although my wife can still use hear until we have new sim contracts.

Looked at Vodaphone Sim only deals through mobiles.co.uk which provide great deals but are cashback which I am a bit concerned with?

Any ideas for a good deal - to sim cards - 12 months contract.

There is no way around Virgin supporting sadly.

Re: Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

No feedback, support from Virgin Mobile or correspondence.

Spoke with Sky and offering one account with two sim only cards.

One free if I change my phone, internet and TV to them.

Only concern is with 02 network?

Given up looking at Three network.

Looks like going to be Vodafone but through Libara as offering free roaming and wifi talk.

Donnot need 5G as my area has got zero coverage.

Need to use my Virgin PAC code soon as time running out.

Was hoping to mantain mobile, TV, Internet and landline under one provider but anything goes now - sadly.

Any recommendations or suggestion most welcome - thanks.

Virgin and O2 will be combining next year if they get the green light from the powers that be.

Re: Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

Just an addition. If your phone worked on the old SIM and needs an unlock for the new one that it is almost certain it is locked to EE so moving to Sky or any other none EE based provider would still need it unlocking

Re: Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

Thanks Enlli,

I thought that Virgin were going over to Vodafone?

I got that wrong!

I have been looking at Libara who use Vodafone but unlike Vodafones Basic package provides roaming and wifi talk?

I need to use my PAC code soon and have two phones to transfer (sim only).

Its a mine field looking at deals at the moment some good and a lot poor.

Don't think Virgin will be concerned with my quest to ask for assistance as there quest is for new customers not me (old customer for years).

Thanks again for your reply.

Mike

They were going to Vodafone, but then this merger came out of the blue.

Re: Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

Thanks for the support Enlli,

I believe you right.

Just tried my wife's sim (Virgin update) in my phone and is requesting a Network Sim Unlock Code.

Place my sim into my wife's phone and worked.

Your right Virgin must have changed from EE to 02 and my phone is locked to EE?

About time I got a new phone anyway, Nexus 6P and the C type charging port is a little loose along with only runs Android 8a.

Still not happy with Virgin's attitude and wonderful support.

£16 a month for 20GB 5000 minutes and unlimited text.

Vodafone deal £8.99 month for 10GB, unlimited minutes and text plus roaming.

Luckily I did not jump into signing with Libara or Vodafone before sorting out a phone first.

Thank you very much again, you have been a great help.

Kindest regards

Mike

WIll try to get this phone unlocked from EE without paying through the nose.

Thanks again

Re: Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

The new SIM cards have Virgin's own network number for now, so not EE, or O2 It means the will work after the takeover without a massive SIM swap in a short period of time

Re: Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

Thank Enlli,

Just tried Unlock code UK.

Paid £3.99 through PayPAL.

Should have locked at there reviews first?

Website stated 2 hours, reviews stated cannot do and refunds.

Waste of time.

EE claim that there phones are automatically unlocked after 6 months?

It has worked on Virgin for 2 years.

I will bite the bullet and just buy a second hand phone.

Got an unlocked iPhone 6 but waiting for a battery off eBay, my wifes old phone.

Thanks

Mike

Re: Sim Update - Network Unlock Pin

Good News,

Someone has just donated me an old Nexus 6 which is unlocked.

Placed the Virgin sim inot it and works a little intermittent but hopefully will work until I get a new phone and network provider.

Got until June, two weeks.
