SIM update: wrong number updated

I have two numbers with Virgin, which is a result of a previous irreparable phone with no insurance. This was to allow me to ultimately keep my long-standing phone number with a working device.

The recent panicky communication regarding swapping SIM also engulfed me too. I replaced the SIM when I got one. I no turns out that that SIM was for the number I never used. I would like to be using my long-term number, not only for convenience and communication with my extended network of contacts and friends, I now realise that I am paying a decent chunk for a plan I am not using and now being charged extra for going over data limits on a skeleton plan with what I thought was a new number when I swapped SIM cards.

I would like to be able to speak to somebody. My frustration is at a level I don't often see.

I hope this is solvable or someone has experienced this issue.
