SIM network PUK request

I have recently inserted a new Virgin SIM into a Samsung S7. When switching on the phone I get a message 'SIM network PIN blocked. Enter SIM network PUK'.

What is this PUK?

Re: SIM network PUK request

It means you S7 is network locked and requires an unlocking code.

Where was it purchased

Re: SIM network PUK request

The phone is a few years old and bought not from Virgin.

The confusing thing is I have been with Virgin Mobile for a few years and the old SIM worked fine, but the new SIM has the PUK request message

Re: SIM network PUK request

The old SIM was rebadged EE the new ones are Virgins own and seen as a different network.

As it worked on the old SIM then it's a good guess it is locked to work on EE based networks.

Virgin may be able to get the code but it is more difficult when the phone was not sold by them

Re: SIM network PUK request

Thanks for that Inferno.

Looks like I'm stuck with a phone locked to EE and due to Virgin mobile moving away from EE I will have to pay to get the phone unlocked, replace the handset or move away from Virgin mobile. Not great service!!

Re: SIM network PUK request

Using a  Virgin phone 789 were able to give me codes to 'unlock' my phones. ( 03456000789 chargeable)

I tried the online messaging, hard work and got nowhere.
