Roaming in australia

received numerous texts saying £5 for 1gb whilst here. 
hardly used phone but just told bill up to £41

why?

Sorry to hear your bill has risen unexpectedly 😔 Do you have data roaming turned on? If so, that would most likely explain why.

Thanks. I have it turned off but switched it on randomly to send messages then off again

that surely shouldn’t be £41 worth
