Replacement SIM not working in newly bought No SIM phone

Because I was using an old Nokia phone and the replacement SIM produced a 'SIM not valid' message I bought a new No SIM Nokia 105. I have tried to put the replacement SIM in that but it is showing 'No SIM card' on the screen. Is a No SIM phone unlocked ? If so, why won't the replacement SIM work ?

Yes, no further forward. Spent some time the other day trying to speak to a human being at Virgin but gave up ! Just had a text advising that I only have 10 days left before the old SIM dies.

Hi there @Stephen1950

 

Thanks for popping back - sorry that you're still having issues. Usually with the message "no SIM card" it means that the handset cannot recognise the SIM. This can mean it might be in backwards or upside down or be the incorrect size SIM for the handset. 

 

For the Nokia 105, the SIM should be face down with the cut off corner facing inwards.

 

Have you managed to test the SIM in another handset at all to see if that works?

Is the old SIM working. Could simply be the new one is not activated

If it was not active, we would expect to see a different message - something along the lines of "SIM not valid" rather than "No SIM Card"

Thanks for your help. Last Friday I eventually got through to a human being at Virgin who activated the SIM. Now working in my new Nokia. S
