Receiving text messages is delayed

Receiving texts can take from several hours to several days. I had this problem when I changed to a new phone which was solved when virgin sent me a new sim. This worked fine for some time but the problem has returned. Very annoying.

Re: Receiving text messages is delayed

Morning @DaronB

Welcome to the forum page and thanks for posting this,

sorry to hear you're having some issues with your mobile.

How are things today? Does receiving texts still take a while?

Can I just ask, what phone do you have?

Does sending texts delay or is it just receiving the texts?

Have you also rebooted your phone to see if this helps?

Please do let me know so we can assist you 🙂

Thanks

Re: Receiving text messages is delayed

Hi, sending texts is not delayed.

Receiving them can take hour's or day's,  OTP messages aren't received at all which makes logging into banking and other services impossible.

I have a Samsung galaxy S20 plus 5g which I have rebooted and reset the network and many other things the tech support had me doing. In the end they are sending me what will be the 3rd sim card for this phone but I'm am not convinced that will solve the problem permanently.

Re: Receiving text messages is delayed

Hi DaronB,

Thank you for that information.

I have taken a look on our side and can see you have spoken with an agent who has requested a new sim card for you. Have you received this?

Re: Receiving text messages is delayed

I'm now seeing Samsung appear a lot, although Virgin have not picked up on it.

Originally turning off WiFi Calling helped, but it has now come to light that those who have moved to the 5G service have to turn off VoLTE as well.

I'm more convinced this is to do with the IMS service used to deliver both of these things.

If you have these services turn BOTH off and see what happens.

Re: Receiving text messages is delayed

I have turned off vo lte and checked WiFi calling as I already know about this one, it had turned itself back on! Turned it off and I am now receiving texts within a few minutes. I have received a new sim from virgin so will probably have to fit it
