So I am currently on a pay monthly contract, however I have discovered there may be a fault with my sim as I can't make or receive calls and need to order a new one but keep the same number and contract. How do I do this?

Really sorry that your SIM card is causing some problems, this isn't good.
Have you tried the SIM in another phone just to check if it is the SIM at fault?
Are all payments up to date?
Have you switched to one of your new SIM cards over the past year or so as if this isn't done it can also cause the services to stop.
