Porting from O2 to Virgin problem.

I have recently joined Virgin Mobile and today my old o2 number ending ...342 was ported across to my iPhone 6S.

Prior to porting I received a sim card from Virgin which I put in the phone and the phone number for that sim card ending in ...503 still shows in the settings on my phone after porting.

Calls made from the phone show ...342 and calls made to the phone using ...342 connect. So the phone is actually using the correct number...342, but not displaying it within Settings. This is causing messages from Apple to update my contact phone number details.

I have left the phone switched off and restarted it but no difference.

Should that number change on my phone?

Re: Porting from O2 to Virgin problem.

Hello

I have seen this before.

To do this change over, first sign out of your apple ID, turn off the phone, wait 30 seconds turn the phone back on and then sign back into your apple ID, that will resolve the problem.

Re: Porting from O2 to Virgin problem.

Thanks very much for getting back so promptly.

I tried what you said but, unfortunately, it didn't work and the wrong number is still shown, which is confusing Apple and others.

Thanks again.

Re: Porting from O2 to Virgin problem.

Just an update. I spoke with Virgin Mobile who advised me to edit the info on my phone to the number I had ported and then I signed out as you suggested and when I next signed in I had lost Virgin altogether!!

After a reboot everything was ok:-)

Hello

Glad you got it sorted, strange as when I worked for them the Troubleshooting I advised would have normally resolved the issue. Will keep that in mind.
