Phone asking me to enter pin number before making a call

I'm trying to contact my mum in Croatia. However, every time I dial her number and it rings my phone asks for a pin number. Neither my voicemail pin or phone unlock pin work. What is going on? Why on earth do I have to enter a pin number to make the connection? What is going on?

Hi Max111, welcome back to the community! So sorry to hear of this issue with your Mobile service calling abroad. 

Have you tried changing or resetting the pin? Set up Virgin mobile voicemail | Virgin Media Help

You can do this by following these instructions:

1. Hold down 1 for voicemail or dial 222 on your mobile.
2. Choose option 3: Settings > option 3: PIN > option 1: Setting PIN.
