Payment showing not owed

A few weeks ago I attempted to contact virgin mobile about paying the outstanding balance for my handset. I was transferred to whatsapp which seemed fine and paid the remaining amount on my contract, just over 500 pounds, and was informed that this was settles. The money has left my account and is showinf as paid to virgin media finance. However, I have now got a payment for the handset showing as pending on my banking and have not recieved any confirmation of the original payment being made.
