Not receiving all calls and texts

Hi. I receive some phone calls and texts but not all. My wife can call me but when I try and call from my landline for example I just get a long tone like it’s not a valid number. I’ve reset my network details, checked there are no blocked numbers, checked there is no call redirect, tried just using 3G all to no avail. Several people have now told me they can’t dial me including a virgin engineer. I’m working from home now as so many of us are and I can’t afford to be un-contactable. Has anybody experienced the same issues and can anyone suggest anything I’ve not tried?

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue. Have you been able to try an alternative handset with the sim card in?

Hi Martin. Thanks for getting back to me. I hadn’t thought to try my sim in another phone. My wife and I both use iPhones so I did as as you suggested and put my SIM card in her phone. Same issue! I know that my land line never connects to my phone so I tried dialling  from there. While I was at it I made sure the contacts on the sim were clean and compared our network settings and they’re identical.

Hey Paul / Bowenp01,

 

It may be a faulty SIM but can I ask whether the numbers that can get through and can't get through are from the same carrier or landline Network Operator for example? Do you know if the same numbers can't call you but can text you?

Can I just ask if on your mobile you display your caller ID?

The ‘Show my caller id’ option under ‘Phone’ is switched on.
