No signal

The signal on my phone has always been poor but over the last few weeks I have had no signal at all when at home, unable to make or receive phone calls. Cannot send text messages or receive them which is causng a lot of problems. Have looked on virgin media website but it just tells me to ring them which I can't because I have no signal. Husband who is also with Virgin media having same problems.

Re: No signal

Hi @diane9,

Welcome to our community forums and thank you for your first post.

Sorry to hear you have been having issues with your mobile signal. We can understand this is not ideal and we want to best help.

Just to confirm, does this issue only occur when at home? Does it occur in other locations too?  Also what happens when you try to make calls and texts? You may find the following link useful https://www.virginmedia.com/mobile/coverage-checker

Thanks,

Re: No signal

Hi, The issues I am having with my phone are not just happening at home it is also at work and when I am out and about. If I try to make a call it says ,"not registered on network"" and when I try to send a text message says "unable to send message try later". When I first joined Virgin Media everything was fine but if I now have no service I am going to have to switch to another provider.

Re: No signal

Hi @diane9 thanks for your reply.

That is strange, let me ask a few questions please and kindly respond:

What is the make and model of your handset, and can you also please perform a manual network search and try switching to 4G if their device is trying to connect to 5G? As 5G isn't available in your area.

Many thanks

Re: No signal

In reply my phone is Samsung A40. I have performed manual network search and Virgin and EE come up. My phone is set to 3G/2G auto connect. I believe problems started when you moved from EE to vodaphone.  EE has always been brilliant in this area but have always avoided Vodaphone as the signal has always been so poor.

Re: No signal

Have you checked the Network Status Checker for any updates that may be affecting your signal @diane9

It should be set to 4G(LTE) / 3G/ 2G if it isn't and you are running on 3G that is being phased out.

Re: No signal

The A40 is capable of 4G/LTE so you need to adjust the settings.
