No confirmation of order. Why??

I have gone through the process of ordering a new phone and new contract (switching from another network). I have had no confirmation email only one that says the order is parked/further checks are being done but that was over a week ago! Does anyone know how long this takes? Will I ever hear anything at all or will Virgin just keep me in the dark? I was hoping it would be sorted before September as now I will have to pay for another month on my old network. Thanks Virgin!
