No 5G

I have recently bought a Apple iPhone 12 witch is 5G ready. I have contacted customer support who have confirmed my SIM card is 5G ready. However I’m receiving no 5G coverage even though I’m in a good 5G area. If I go in to settings there are only options for 2/3/4G. Thanks.

Virgin have no 5g for the iPhone 12 yet, it is advertised as coming soon.

Can't remember where I read it on Virgins Web page, but it was to the effect that 5G for the iPhone 12 was coming soon.

Oh right, wasn’t aware that 5G isn’t ready for the iPhone. So how can it be ready for Samsung and not Apple?

At a guess probably something to do with carrier updates?

I got a text this morning informing me 5G is now ready. I'm in a 5G area but don't see any options within settings > mobile data > mobile data options > voice & data for 5G, just the usual 2G, 3G, 4G

I'm on iOS 14.4 and in a 5G area. iPhone 12 Pro Max. Have restarted my iPhone as well.

So I received a carrier update yesterday and now have a 5G option in my settings. I’m currently in a good 5G area according to Virgins coverage map however I’m not receiving any 5G.

Have you tried a reboot of the phone after the carrier update?
